Let’s divide this question into two parts. The first part would be:
1) What should you do when you cannot think of what to write?
In this scenario, it means that you have not even started writing. You are still thinking of what to write. My advice would be that you should take a walk. Go to anywhere quiet, depending on what you want to write. If you are a poet, you could be inspired by the beauty of nature (Tress, flowers, birds, and even the way humans relate with nature and themselves). Perhaps, either of these could inspire you.
The next possible thing to do is to think about yourself, your family, background and all the experiences you went through while growing up or even the present situation you are in now. You could turn your story into a book. It could inspire or encourage thousands or even millions of people. Things do not just happen. It could be that what you went through was an avenue through which you could help others come out of such situation. So start writing.
And the second part would be:
2) How do you proceed with writing even when you lack ideas along the line?
In this scenario, you already started writing but are having problems on how to continue writing because you are stocked. If you have already started writing and along the line it seems as though ideas are no longer flowing. Take a break and do other things. Come back to continue later, that might help. Better still, you can take a walk. Go with your writing materials, because more ideas might start flowing into your mind and if you do not have a writing material and cannot recollect all that came to your mind. You might lose it. I hope my answer will help you in a way?

The best thing about being a writer for me is the joy I feel inside me when I remember that I am not wasting my potentials. But rather I am using it to help people, and solve problems. Because, I believe that even if I die today, my book would keep being a solution to someone’s problems. Hope I answered that? (less)

Lee Kuan Yew's Open Letter to Nigerian Leaders

By Simon Kolawole.

Dear Nigerian leaders, I want to appreciate your condolence messages to Singaporeans since my death on Sunday, March 22. Having died at the age of 91, I would not say I died young. In fact, life expectancy in Singapore, which I led as prime minister for 31 years, is 80 years for men and 85 for women. You may even say I spent an ov Read more of this blog post »
