These days, I spend most of my creative juice writing for businesses, not for me.

No, I don't hate everything. It's just a low scoring system in this four- and five-star wasteland:

-One star: I don't feel the need to nuance stars on books I didn't enjoy, so even if a book had good parts, if it falls short of an average read (and I don't think any of us are intentionally reading books we won't enjoy), it goes here.
-Two stars: An average read, something I'd still recommend to the right person.
-Three stars: A good read. This is the level where I start recommending books.
-Four stars: Book of the year (although I'll admit more theology books sneak in here than they should).
-Five stars: Best books of my lifetime; those rare reads that really des

Matthew Mcconnell I'm just here playing around. The last thing I need is more "social networks". Seriously, I'm just around for the free ebooks, which I still need a way to read on my "dumb" phone.

Lacey Dude, I say you needn't bother. Be as discerning as you want! I love to judge things harshly. AS HARSH AS POSSIBLE. Like I said, books that won't be above a 3 don't even make it onto my reading radar.

Ben Man, you are all about some Larry King, aren't you? Maybe you should change up your profile pic to one of Larry...

But yeah, I plan on changing it up every so often now, if for no other reason than to keep everyone on their toes. And don't be surprised if you see another Larry King appear! No sir, it could very well happen....

I would say that Larry King had marriages that lasted for longer, but I'm not sure if that's true...

As for Amy Hempel, she's got that Collected Stories edition now. Though I think her earlier stuff is far better -- two of my top-five short stories ever, "The Man From Bogota" and "In the Cemetery Where Al Jolson is Buried" are from Reasons to Live -- it's easier to grab the collection than the out of print originals.

Ben I had to take Larry away. I was starting to feel like I was a dirty old man or something. By the way, I went to Barnes and Noble the other day and looked for Hempel and they didn't have any. It disapointed me, but I'll buy one of her books through the internet at some point in time. Peace.

Ben You got it, man. I've never felt so sexy.
