  • 【Developing a Large-Scale Language Model to Unveil and Alleviate Gender and Age Biases in Australian Job Ads】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gZ7isShD (Authored by Ruochen Mao, et al., from Diversity Atlas, Australia.) Gendered language in job advertisements influences applicants’ perception of job descriptions and gender equality. Likewise, #age_bias subtly embedded in job advertisements restricts employment opportunities for older job seekers. Unfortunately, discriminatory practices in job ads often remain implicit. Therefore, detecting and mitigating these biases is crucial for fostering fair hiring practices. This study analyzes gender and age biases in job advertisements in Australia by collecting and analyzing job advertisement data from the Australian job-seeking website, Seek, and explores the application of large-scale language models in detecting and reducing these biases. #Gender_Bias #Machine_Learning

  • 【Camalote Grass (Paspalum fasciculatum Willd) as a Sustainable Raw Material for the Production of Lignocellulosic Ethanol】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/g8iU93ed (Authored by María Luz May-Reyes, et al., from Universidad Popular de la Chontalpa, Mexico.) Studies show that the lignocellulosic biomass of grasses can be a promising raw material for ethanol production. #Camalote_grass, belonging to the Poaceae family, is a perennial, fast-growing, and invasive grass. It holds great potential as a raw material for #ethanol production due to its high availability, easy access, and low cost. This work therefore presents the use of #lignocellulosic_biomass from Camalote grass to produce ethanol. #Acid_Hydrolysis #Energy_Crops

  • 【Stiffness Characteristics of a Basic Nonlinear Air Spring Model】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gRsuTzTr (Authored by Abdullah S. Alsuwaiyan, from Qassim University, Saudi Arabia.) Air springs are mechanical devices that use confined air to accomplish specific tasks. Currently, not enough research has been done on their dynamic properties. This study presents a second-order nonlinear model for assessing the dynamics and the vibration amplitude and stiffness of an #air_spring. The model is built using the thermodynamic and fluid mechanics properties of the air inside the spring's champers, as well as the system dynamics derived from Newton's second law of motion. #Dynamic_Stiffness #State_Space #Polytropic_Modeling

  • 【A Comparative Analysis of the Trade Policies of China and the United States of America】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gQTcU_tN (Authored by Hossin Mahedi, et al., from Northwest University, China.) The dynamic #trade_policies of the United States and China to be an intriguing subject of study. This study conducts a thorough and detailed examination of the trade policies of China and the United States, with a focus on the differences in the goals, approaches, and effects of US and Chinese trade policy on both home and international markets. #Comparative_Analysis #International_Trade

  • 【Effect of Dietary Components on the Shear Bond Strength of Orthodontics Brackets after Thermal Aging】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gyTmiCAP (Authored by Philip Punzalan, et al., from University of Nevada, USA.) The performance of #orthodontic_brackets can influence the orthodontic treatment efficiency. The stability of orthodontic brackets throughout orthodontic treatment plays a critical role in the treatment's effectiveness. This study evaluates the effects of dietary components——common beverages (Milk, Gatorade, Cold Coffee, and water) consumed by orthodontic patients on the #shear_bond strength of orthodontic brackets and the color stability of bonded teeth, focusing on the impact of #thermal_aging over time. #Color_Stability

  • 【Study of the Relationships between the Dimensions of Information Quality and Knowledge Management Processes in Forensic Processes at Crimes against Life Locations】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gb8UqEQ9 (Authored by Diana Carla Secundo, et al., from Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil.) Despite the extensive literature on #knowledge_management and #information_quality, few studies relate these constructs to forensic activities at the scene of crimes against life. This work analyzes how the dimensions of information quality and knowledge management processes relate to the stages of the process of assistance at the scene of a #crime against life, carried out by criminal experts who work in the Crime Against Life sector of Technical-Scientific Institute of Expertise of Rio Grande do Norte (ITEP/RN).

  • 【Analysis of the Drought Impact as an Extreme Climatic Event in Sudan】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gf-MzWfP (Authored by Awad Hussien, from Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, China.) Drought is a complicated phenomenon that affects socioeconomic and agricultural activities in major ways. One of the most important metrics for tracking meteorological droughts is precipitation. Several studies have shown that long-term monthly precipitation data, together with the Standardized Precipitation Index (#SPI), may be used to forecast when droughts or heavy rains would occur. This study employs high-resolution Climate Hazards Group Infrared Precipitation with Station (#CHIRPS) data to analyze the temporal and spatial distribution of #rainfall in Sudan from 2001 to 2015, and investigates drought as an extreme climatic event in Sudan by utilizing the #Anomaly and Standard Precipitation Index (SPI).

  • 【Effects of Crosswise Appendage Plate Flexibility on the Drag Reduction Characteristics of Cylinder】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gK2C2vuj (Authored by Jiyao Yang, et al., from Nanchang Hangkong University, China.) In engineering applications (Like an ocean riser), fluid flow around bluff bodies generates substantial resistance, which can jeopardize structural integrity, lifespan, and escalate resource consumption. This study utilizes the immersed boundary technique to conduct numerical simulations of the drag effects induced by rigid and flexible transverse #appendage _plate (Kb = 0.01) ahead of the cylinder, considering different Reynolds numbers (Re = 150/200/255) and distances (D = 2.0/2.5/3.0/3.5), aiming to provide reference for reducing the drag caused by blunt body turbulence in Marine risers by studying the influence of the #flexibility of the appendage plate on the resistance characteristics of the cylinder. #Cylinder_Flow #Drag_Reduction

  • 【Analysis of the Spatiotemporal Variation Characteristics and Driving Factors of Land Vegetation GPP in a Certain Region of Asia】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/geb9N6Yq (Authored by Zhongshuai Xia, from Qinghai University, China.) #Gross_primary_productivity (GPP) serves as a significant indicator of carbon sequestration capability and the growth characteristics of terrestrial vegetation, providing a direct reflection of ecosystem health and productivity levels. This study employs the Sen + MK trend analysis method to analyze the trends in GPP changes in a certain region of Asia from 2001 to 2020 and establishes a GPP change driving attribution #model to explore the driving impacts of factors on GPP. #Spatiotemporal_Variations #Driving_Factors
