Toolbelt

Process

MacPhee Design's work is designing, developing, and maintaining clean, modern websites that feel like they are built in the twenty-twenties. Our process is mixed with function, clarity, attention to detail, all in an office is 100% powered by solar energy.

1

Website audit

We approach a project by first looking at the existing website, if there is one. This gives insight into the original thinking behind what kind of content our client is hoping to convey, and how the client team went about putting things together originally.

2

User experience (UX) discovery

We look at in-industry websites to see the baseline – and then rise above it. We, also look widely around the internet, specifically at websites that are doing interesting, exciting, or noteworthy things. We find them through award aggregators like Site Inspire and Awwwards. By browsing through these sites, we’re often struck with inspiration of how we can do something a little different (and exciting) in our own work.

3

Content strategy

Content is hard and can be pushed to the back burner on every project to some degree. We like to start with a solid foundation of the content process. Taking the time to see what exists, what’s good, what’s bad, and what content you need to be successful. Once we have a full understanding of the website's content, we can then begin to plan and build Webflow CMS Collections, navigation system and website architecture.

4

Webflow design

We take notes during the user experience (UX) discovery and in conversations with you about the design to find a look-and-feel for your project. I may recommend starting with a Webflow website template or starting a custom design using Relume library to build a component-based website system. Sometimes we do a combination of both, using a design-jump start from a template but building the website with Relume and Client first style system. We also work with Figma designers to bring dreams to reality.

5

Webflow development

MacPhee Design has 7+ years of Webflow experience and is a Webflow Partner. We work with the Relume component library and Client first style system to build website that scale. We use Client-First as a set of guidelines and strategies to help us build Webflow websites and work faster, with less effort. There are thousands of other developers also using Client-first and with the user friendly naming conventions, you can see exactly how your website is built.

6

Website training

Project handoff is simple and managing your website’s content shouldn’t be a hassle. So Webflow made it easy. With the Webflow Editor, there’s no complex dashboards or disconnected back end — just you, your website, and the content you want to change. And if you want to work in Designer mode with more permissions, having your website set up Client-First, makes looking at the navigator intuitive and easy to pick up. I'll be your guide in both senarios.
