We have over 3.5 million providers in MediFind, but not all doctors have the necessary research experience and credentials to meet the criteria our algorithms use to evaluate expertise. If you are happy with your doctor and believe you receive good care, then remain with them. If you are looking for doctors in specific conditions or have serious health concerns, MediFind can help you find the most qualified providers in the world, your country, or your local area.

Our expert tiers are determined by a variety of factors using our proprietary algorithms. We consider things such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials, speaking at industry conferences, prescribing and referral patterns, as well as the number of patients a doctor sees for a given condition.

When evaluating expertise, we go beyond simply looking at the number of patients a doctor sees for a given condition. We consider many additional factors such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials, speaking at industry conferences, prescribing and referral patterns, and strength of connections with other experts in their field. Based on this information, doctors fall into one of four levels of expertise for each specific health condition:

Elite doctors are global leaders in their fields. In addition to seeing a high volume of patients and referrals for a given health condition, they publish many articles in medical journals, speak at medical conferences, and participate in multiple clinical trials. They are likely to be on the cutting edge of new treatments. These doctors are also likely to hold leadership positions in their respective organizations and fields.

Distinguished doctors are leaders in their fields and set themselves apart from many of their peers with their research portfolios and cutting-edge treatments, in addition to seeing large numbers of patients with a given health condition. These doctors are likely to have the most expertise in their region.

Advanced doctors can be excellent at diagnosing and treating conditions. They treat many patients and have extensive experience, however they are less likely to publish in medical journals, speak at medical conferences, or participate in clinical trials.

Experienced doctors focus on diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions, and can be either specialists or primary care physicians. They have some experience with the given health condition, but often refer patients to more specialized providers for complex or serious conditions. The majority of doctors fall in this rating.

If you have a rare condition or a very serious illness, seeking advice and treatment from top doctors may be the best choice. In the majority of situations, top tier expertise is not necessary.

You can search for doctors a few ways on MediFind: specialty, condition, and name. The order in which results are displayed differ depending on how your search.

BY SPECIALTY: When you search for a specific specialty (such as Oncologists), there are three ways you can sort: Relevance, Rating, and Distance. Relevance is selected by default.

Relevance: Sorts doctors based on the following combination of factors, within the specified search radius you have set:
1. Doctors with videos. Many patients would like to get a better feel for a potential doctor before choosing to make an appointment. In fact, research shows that patients typically judge their doctor’s expertise based on a combination of competence and warmth. Outside of meeting in person, videos are the best way to get a sense for a doctor’s personality and approach, so we prioritize doctors who have videos available
2. Specialty rating. In descending order of the number of health conditions in which a doctor is rated Advanced or higher

Specialty: Sorts doctors based on the number of conditions in which a doctor is rated Advanced or higher, within your specified search radius.

Distance: Sorts doctors by proximity to your location, within the search radius you have set.

BY CONDITION: When you search for a specific health condition (such as pancreatic cancer), there are three ways you can sort: Relevance, Rating, and Distance. Relevance is selected by default.

Relevance: Sorting is based on tiers, with the highest tiers appearing first (such as Elite) within the specified search radius. Within each tier the doctors are listed by:
1. Doctors with premium profiles
2. Doctors with videos
3. Condition rating. This score is a proprietary measure of expertise for each health condition, and is shown in descending order by tier

Rating: Sorting is based on tiers, which are specific to each health condition. Doctors are listed in descending order by scores for each tier within the specified search radius.

Distance: Sorts doctors by proximity to your location, within the search radius you have set.

Doctors who are members of partner programs may also appear in one of the two positions at the top of the results page, and are labeled as “featured.”

No. Doctors cannot influence the level of expertise assigned by MediFind, nor can they pay to be included in the MediFind database. We use proprietary algorithms to independently evaluate doctors.

There are many different schools of thought when it comes to treating diseases and illnesses. The Second Opinion feature allows you to find new doctors to evaluate your condition. Our algorithms look for doctors with similar characteristics to the doctor you have selected, but with different enough viewpoints to provide alternative options for your care.

Patients and caregivers are our highest priority and we don’t take that responsibility lightly. We use cutting-edge, HIPAA-compliant security and encryption technology to safeguard user data and protect information.

Latest Research are summaries of the most recent articles published in medical journals. MediFind scours medical publication databases to find the newest research and summarizes the articles often within weeks of their publication. If you want the most up-to-date medical research, MediFind is your source.

If you click on the MediFind logo in the upper left corner of the screen, you will be taken back to the main search page.

In order to use the bookmarking feature, you must be logged into MediFind. Clicking on the Bookmark icon allows you to save a doctor, an article, or a clinical trial so that when you come back later all of the information you saved will be easy to find. All of your bookmarks will appear in the Dashboard section of the condition for which they were saved.

There is no cost to use MediFind, however registration may be required to view certain elements of the application.

Registration is not required to use MediFind. To gain full access to all of the application’s features, such as saving conditions and bookmarking doctors, you will need to register. By registering with MediFind, we will be able to send you notifications about new research and latest research in conditions of interest to you.
