Andy Mineo

New York City-based rapper Andy Mineo makes progressive, electronic-influenced hip-hop with a spiritual focus. Debuting his lyric-heavy style in the 2000s while still studying, issuing his debut solo project Sin Is Wack in 2009. After hitting the charts for the first time in 2011, Mineo made a quick ascent to the top of the U.S. Christian and Gospel charts with efforts such as Heroes for Sale (2013), the Never Land EP (2014), and Uncomfortable (2015). In 2021, he released his third full-length, the sequel set Never Land II. Raised in Syracuse, Mineo began rapping and producing albums in his home studio while still in high school. Originally going by the stage name of C-Lite, Mineo was signed to Syracuse University's Marshall Street Records and opened for such acts as the Roots and Common. While in college, he reconnected with his faith after meeting producer Alex Medina and the urban evangelism project T.R.U.C.E. He was soon touring with T.R.U.C.E., and in 2009 released his first mixtape, Sin Is Wack, Vol. 1. In 2011, Mineo signed with Reach Records and dropped the moniker C-Lite in favor of his actual name. That same year he released his second mixtape, Formerly Known. In 2013, Mineo came out with his proper full-length studio album, Heroes for Sale, followed by the EP Never Land in 2014, and the release of the hit single "Lay Up" and his second album, Uncomfortable, in 2015. Two years later, Mineo joined Wordsplayed for the collaborative mixtape Magic and Bird. Peaking inside the Top 50 of the Billboard 200, the effort featured the singles "Dunk Contest" and "Judo." Mineo then scored gold certification for the 2018 single "You Can't Stop Me" with Messiah. In April 2018, he issued the EP I: The Arrow, which featured two songs with Weatherman, and included the single "I Ain't Done." A second EP, II: The Sword, followed that September with the mixtape Work in Progress, which arrived in August 2019. In late 2021, Mineo returned with his third full-length, Never Land II. An emotionally turbulent and socially conscious set, the album featured guests Lecrae, JVKE, and a reunion with his Magic & Bird collaborator Wordsplayed.
