Lost Balloons
The seeds of power poppy punk duo Lost Balloons were sown in Japan during 2011 when Yusuke Okada of the band Suspicious Beasts asked Jeff Burke of the Marked Men to help him out with recording a song. The duo ended up working on a few songs together and decided they would form a band in the future. When both men moved to the U.S. from Japan, they ended up starting Lost Balloons in earnest. Working out of Burke's studio in Texas, they shared songwriting and singing duties on the duo's first album, a self-titled set of energetic power pop tunes released by the German label Alien Snatch! in late 2015. By this time each of them had new bands, Radioactivity for Burke, Friend for Okada, but their musical bond was strong enough that they continued making music together. Their second album, Hey Summer, was released in June of 2017 by Dirtnap and featured a more tightly arranged and punchy guitar pop sound.
