JAY IDK
Maryland-based rapper Jay IDK (aka IDK) was born Jason Mills in London in 1992. His direct and often nakedly autobiographical rhymes became a signature of his style and he quickly gained exposure and new followers after beginning to perform publicly and release music around 2014. IDK stands for "Ignorantly Delivering Knowledge," another signifier of his often vulnerable lyrical style. He released a string of mixtapes, starting with Sex, Drugs & Homework in 2014, following with SubTrap the next year and Empty Bank the year after that. These prolific years also saw Jay IDK collaborating with musicians such as Deniro Farrar, Cole King, and Jimi Tents as well as sharing stages with better-known rappers. His debut album, IWASVERYBAD, was released in 2017 on the Adult Swim label. The record featured cameos by a host of well-known names, including Chief Keef, DOOM, and even veteran West Coast talent Del the Funky Homosapien.
