Omar Montes

A Spanish media celebrity-turned-singer, Omar Montes mixes urban music and flamenco. Born in 1988, Montes first became known as a boxer but then became even more well known as a television personality and reality show contestant, appearing in Gran Hermano VIP, Supervivientes, and Mujeres, Hombres y Viceversa. A well-publicized romance with Chabelita Pantoja (daughter of Isabel Pantoja, one of Spain's most iconic singers) only increased his media profile, and helped gather attention for his budding music career, which quickly took off in 2018 with a series of hit singles and collaborations with artists such as Alba Dreid, Moncho Chavea, Fyahbwoy, Juanjo Sánchez, Bad Gyal, and Daviles de Novelda. Released in April 2019, Montes' first album, La Vida Mártir, reached the Spanish Top Ten. Subsequently, Montes made a deliberate effort to be taken seriously as a singer by concentrating on his music career, and choosing new material closer to rhumba, flamenco, and pop, rather than reggaeton -- a trend consolidated on Quejíos de un Maleante (2022) and Lágrimas de un Maleante (2024).
