Hunt

Sam Hunt was born on December 8th, 1984 in Cedartown, Georgia where, as a teenager, he played football for the local high school, receiving numerous accolades from within the world of college football. After having a try-out in 2007 for the Kansas City Chiefs, Hunt's ambitions faltered and he decided to pursue a career in country music, much to the surprise of family, friends and football colleagues. After moving to Nashville, he became a jobbing songwriter, writing material for other artists until 2014 when he signed a solo deal with MCA and had a number one with his 2014 debut single “Leave the Night On” which went on to gain platinum certification. This was followed up by his double-GRAMMY-nominated debut album Montevallo, which also went to number one in the Top Country Charts and hit number three on the Billboard 200. Refining a genre-straddling sound which draws on influences from contemporary pop and R&B, Hunt returned in 2017 with the comeback single “Body Like a Back Road”, which soon became his most successful track, reaching number six on the Hot 100, achieving quadruple platinum certification, and subsequently becoming the eighth-best-selling song of the year in the US. Winding down his output considerably in the following two years and releasing just two singles – “Downtown’s Dead” and “Kinfolks” – Hunt eventually announced his second LP, Southside, which emerged in April 2020, reaching #5 in the US and promptly going platinum.
