Junior Varsity

An idiosyncratic duo that pairs left-field pop with casual yet anthemic alternative rock, Junior Varsity went from elusive social media sensations to full-blown pop stars with the release of their eponymous 2021 debut EP. A second EP, Side B, appeared the following year, with My Star arriving in 2024. Founded in Los Angeles in 2019 by Greg Aram and Zach Michel, who met through school in New York City, Junior Varsity began releasing snippets of songs as background music on their social media accounts. Those flashes of fist-pumping pop acumen garnered a significant amount of buzz on the L.A. music scene and eventually caught the attention of Warner Records, which signed the duo in 2020, culminating in the release of their first single, "Cold Blood," in 2021. The song appeared on their eponymous debut EP later that year. Side B, the pair's sophomore EP, arrived in 2022 and included the singles "Rushh" and "I'm Not a Boy." Two years later, the group completed their EP trilogy with My Star, a set of songs (including the streaming hit "Cross the Street") rooted in city life, relationships, and personal growth.
