Lunchmoney Lewis
Miami-bred rapper and songwriter LunchMoney Lewis catapulted from the land of the unknown to the world of superstardom during the 2010s, landing a feature on Nicki Minaj's album The Pinkprint and scoring his own breakthrough hit with the single "Bills." With his upbeat energy and fun style, he kept spirits lifted with additional hits like 2015's "Whip It!" and party-starting collaborations with Pitbull, Wyclef Jean, Big Boi, and others. Behind the scenes, his prolific songwriting resulted in tracks penned for the likes of Fifth Harmony, Jessie J, Icona Pop, One Direction, Meghan Trainor, Jason Derulo, Maroon 5, Backstreet Boys, and many more.
Born Gamal Kosh Lewis, he spent years working professionally in the background, something that began when his father, Ian Lewis, and his uncle, Roger Lewis, opened the Circle House Studios in Miami. Both men were founding members of the reggae band Inner Circle, and after Circle House became popular with the roots and dancehall scenes, the studio started booking hip-hop artists. LunchMoney stood by as hits by Lil Wayne and Flo Rida were cut in the studio; then, in 2013, he began to earn co-writing credits, including one on Juicy J's single "Scholarship." Collaborations with producer Dr. Luke evolved into a professional relationship, and in 2014, LunchMoney landed next to Beyonce and Drake on The Pinkprint's guest list. A year later, he introduced his solo career with the boisterous multi-platinum single "Bills," which entered the U.S. Hot 100 and soared to number one in Australia. After issuing his debut EP Bills, he scored another Australian hit with the dance-friendly "Whip It!" featuring Chloe Angelides. He continued for the remainder of the decade, writing songs for a who's-who of pop, rap, and R&B artists while also recording collaborative singles with the likes of Ty Dolla $ign (2016's "H.O.E."), Pitbull (2016's "Greenlight"), Doja Cat (2019's "Make That Cake"), and fellow Miami act City Girls (2019's "Pony").
