Sinne Eeg

An acclaimed Danish jazz vocalist, Sinne Eeg is known for her dusky, lyrical style and command of the Great American Songbook tradition. She emerged to widespread praise in the 2000s, winning the Danish Music Awards for 2007's Waiting for Dawn, 2010's Don't Be So Blue, and 2014's Face the Music, and. She has toured globally and performed with Peter Erskine, Roger Neumann, Joe LaBarbara, and others. Eeg has also worked regularly with pianist Jacob Christoffersen, as on 2017's Dreams. Born in 1977 in the small Danish town of Lemvig, Eeg grew up in a musical home with a father who played double bass and a mother who played the clarinet. She was drawn to singing at a young age, especially jazz. After high school, she studied music at the prestigious Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Esbjerg. She also spent time in New York city studying privately with vocalist Janet Lawson. Graduating in 2003, she relocated to Copenhagen and released her debut album, Sinne Eeg. More recordings followed, including 2007's Waiting for Dawn, 2010's Don't Be So Blue, and 2014's Face the Music. Each of these albums took home the Danish Music Award for Best Danish Vocal Jazz Album of the Year. Also in 2014, she was awarded the Ben Webster Prize. The following year, she earned a fourth Danish Music Award for Eeg Fonnesbaek, her collaboration with bassist Thomas Fonnesbaek. Dreams arrived in 2017, followed by 2020's We've Just Begun with the Danish Radio Big Band.
