Barbara Doza

Venezuelan-born, Miami-based singer/songwriter Barbara Doza is a self-described musical chameleon whose eclectic style blends elements of disco, reggae, Afrobeats, pop, and rap. Born Barbara Patricia Mendoza on March 24, 1994, in the northern port city of La Guaira, just a few miles from the capital Caracas, Doza came to music early, writing her first song at the age of nine. Fleeing the country's political turmoil, she settled for a time in Puerto Rico, where she first attempted to launch a music career. However, the devastation wrought by Hurricane Maria forced her to move yet again, this time to Miami, FL. There she was introduced to Yeti Beats, best known for his work with Doja Cat. Doza was already a big fan of Cat, and Yeti was eager to work with a Latin artist, so their meeting was serendipitous. Doza's debut single "Llévame" was released in 2023 and was followed by more solo singles as well as a number of collaborations: "Chula" with Angel Dior, "Get Down" with Rawayana, and "La Pista Es Mía" with Miguelle & Tons. Yeti produced her debut EP Malandra, released in 2024. The title is a slang term for a woman who, through bravery, resilience, and attitude, has overcome difficult circumstances in life. Featuring the singles "Papi," "Japon," and the aforementioned "Get Down," the EP showcased Doza's eclectic sound, flitting easily between styles and capped with her bold, confident singing and rapping.
