Night Crickets

An inventive and intuitive art pop project featuring David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets), Victor DeLorenzo (Violent Femmes), and multi-instrumentalist Darwin Meiners, Night Crickets emerged in 2021 with a sound that combines elements of folk-tinged post-punk, knotty experimental rock, and nocturnal indie pop. Born out of creative necessity, the trio had previously collaborated with Meiners, a San Francisco-born artist and manager for David J, on his 2014 release Souvenir. When the world went into lockdown in 2021, the trio began sharing audio files, piecing together the songs that would eventually form their debut album. Operating under the moniker Night Crickets, which they gleaned from an anecdote shared by the sound designer for David Lynch's 2001 neo-noir mystery Mulholland Drive, the group released the evocative A Free Society in 2022.
