Promnite

New York-born and LA-based producer, Paul “PJ” Sledge has been igniting dance floors since 2014. Originally known as Colta, Sledge’s musical journey began with an appreciation for the underground vibes of Low End Theory and the Los Angeles beat scene, relocating to the West Coast in 2011 and connecting with a group of producers who shaped his early influences. His project gained momentum, partly due to a debut Boiler Room performance in the spring of 2013 and production work with Diplo's Mad Decent outfit, where he collaborated with artists like Mr. Carmack, Djemba Djemba, and Penthouse Penthouse. A year later, Sledge transitioned to the moniker Promnite, enabling him to explore a broader range of sounds, genres, and tempos, including club music, downtempo hip-hop, and hard beats. Shortly after adopting the alias, Sledge produced for Denzel Curry, performed at a London Boiler Room event with Danny Seth, and co-founded the club-focused collective Athletixx with fellow LA producers Hoodboi, Kittens, and Falcons. Securing production credits for tracks like "Swish Swish" by Katy Perry (feat. Nicki Minaj) and "Believe" by A-Trak (feat. Quavo and Lil Yachty) in 2017, Promnite released his debut album, Snakecharmer in March, followed by EP Exist in a year later. In 2020, he collaborated with DJ and producer Mr. Carmack under the alias Project Paradis, merging experimental sound design, powerful production, and dynamic machine-like soundscapes to create the dystopian-themed album Paradis 1. Drawing inspiration from experimental bass, trap, instrumental grime, house, and UK dubstep, they followed this with the EP Paradis 2, featuring singles "Stockholm Syndrome" and "Cut 11." Over the following years, Promnite continued to collaborate with artists such as Jordi Post and Snakehips, and releasing solo tracks like "Can't Believe," "Absolute," and "Misha's Peak,” returning in January 2023, with "Forgive," featuring KLY.
