Yiyo Sarante

Eduardo Sarante, widely recognized by the name Yiyo Sarante, is a Dominican singer often dubbed "La Voz de La Salsa" (The Voice of Salsa). He was born in Baní, province of Peravia, and is the seventh of nine siblings, with five of them being musicians. Yiyo Sarante's passion for music began at a young age, and he participated in various orchestras in the Dominican Republic. In 1999, he made his singing debut, performing in the tourist area of Bávaro. By 2003, he joined the Oro Duro orchestra led by one of his brothers. In 2010, inspired by his brother José Sarante, Yiyo Sarante embarked on a solo singing career, recording fresh  interpretations of songs like "Pirata," "Maldita Primavera," and "Tierra Mala." The latter track made it to the second spot in the annual Top 50 Salsa of the Dominican Republic in 2011. The following year, "Maldita Primavera" gained international acclaim, especially in Florida and the US East Coast. His success led to a Caribbean tour, visiting places like the Virgin Islands and Aruba. In 2013, Yiyo Sarante released "Pirata," subsequently signing with Planet Records. 2013 also saw the release of his album La Voz de la Salsa, followed by El Comienzo (2019) and the EP Lo Mejor de Mí (2020). He earned the prestigious Soberano Award in 2014, recognizing him as the Salsero of the Year. In 2021, Yiyo Sarante released the song "Manos de Tijera," which became one of his most enduring singles.
