MBLAQ

MBLAQ is a South Korean boy band founded by singer Rain under the agency J. Tune Camp. The group, whose name is an acronym for Music Boys Live in Absolute Quality, originally consisted of members Seungho, G.O, Mir, Lee Joon, and Thunder, who debuted on October 15, 2009, during Rain's Legend of Rainism concert. Prior to their official debut, they released teasers for their song "Oh Yeah" and their debut single album, Just BLAQ, in October 2009. This album quickly rose to prominence, topping several charts in South Korea. Their first EP Y, showcasing Rain's input as a writer, composer, producer, and choreographer, was released in May 2010. BLAQ Style, their first full-length studio album, was launched in 2011 after its lead single "Cry" attracted significant online attention. In December 2014, Lee Joon and Thunder left MBLAQ to pursue individual endeavors. In 2011, the band had a successful debut in Japan, signing with Sony Music Japan and gaining immense popularity with Japanese audiences. Their album, BLAQ Style - 3D Edition, released in February 2011, topped the Hanteo charts. It was later also promoted in Taiwan, where it reached the top of the charts. MBLAQ's winning streak continued during the following years with chart-topping EPs such as Mona Lisa (2011), 100% Ver. (2012), Sexy Beat (2013), and Broken (2014). The group followed up with two more extended plays—Winter (2014) and Mirror (2015)—before disbanding in 2015.
