Benni Ola
Benni Ola is a Nigerian-American artist whose music finds a balance between spoken word poetry, R&B, pop, and house. Raised by a religious family whose members prayers often, he grew up with an appreciation for the otherworldly power of words. Although he made his debut as a solo artist in 2020 with the three-song EP Flux, Ola began collaborating with fellow L.A.-based artists in 2018, utilizing his poetry background to build a reputation as a go-to lyricist in songwriting sessions. One of those sessions brought him face-to-face with the British producer Daktyl, which laid the groundwork for a partnership that would eventually result in the release of Benni Ola's commercial breakthrough, Chaos Theory, Pt. 1, in 2023. Before working on that EP, though, Ola continued exploring his unique sound with solo singles like 2021's "Shibuya" and 2022's "Robbin Season," both of which incorporated elements of soul, funk, jazz, and rap. Chaos Theory, Pt. 1 arrived in 2023, pairing Daktyl's genre-bending production with Benni Ola's explosive, eclectic contributions as a lyricist, singer, and frontman. "Matrix" and "Say No More" became the EP's most successful releases, and a companion project, Chaos Theory, Pt. 2, followed later that year.
