HIXTAPE

Hardy is an American country singer from Philadelphia, Mississippi, who writes about small-town life. Born Michael Wilson Hardy on September 13, 1990, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, he moved to Nashville in the early 2010s and obtained a degree in songwriting from Middle Tennessee State University. He self-released the EP Redneck Recipe in 2013 and then became a songwriting partner of the duo Florida Georgia Line. He co-wrote their hit singles "Simple" and "Talk You Out of It." He also co-wrote the hit "Up Down" for Morgan Wallen. Hardy released his own EP This Ole Boy in 2018 and toured with Wallen. In 2019, he released the extended play Where to Find Me and the single "Rednecker," a wry look at country culture. That year, he also released the collaborative album Hixtape featuring a number of artists including Morgan Wallen, Thomas Rhett Akins Jr, Tracy Lawrence, Keith Urban, Zakk Wylde, Cole Swindell, Dustin Lynch and Jake Owen. The mixtape reached Number 35 on the US country charts and was followed by a star-studded second volume in late 2021. A Rock, his studio debut, appeared in 2020 and included the chart-topping single "One Beer" featuring Lauren Alaina and Devin Dawson. Hardy followed up in 2023 with his sophomore effort The Mockingbird & the Crow, a more rock-oriented album that hit the top of the country, independent, and rock charts in the United States. Featuring contributions from the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith, Knox, and Fred Durst, 2024's Quit!! continued this trend, exploring the singer-songwriter's rock influences. Preceded by the singles "Quit!!," "Rockstar," "Psycho," "Jim Bob," and  "Six Feet Under (Caleigh's Song)," the album peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200.
