Colby Acuff

Colby Acuff is a Rocky Mountain-bred country singer known for his honest, relatable lyrics and authentic, neo-traditionalist sound. Born and raised in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Acuff issued three independent albums, including 2021's acclaimed If I Were the Devil, before inking a deal with Sony Music Nashville and releasing 2023's outlaw country-leaning Western White Pines. A fourth-generation Idaho native, Colby Acuff spent his formative years hunting, fishing, and absorbing the sounds of Waylon, Willie, Flatt & Scruggs, and Bill Monroe. The self-taught multi-instrumentalist made his stage debut at 12 and started writing songs at 15, looking to genre outliers like Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers for inspiration. He studied economics at college, but office life held no allure, and before long, he was working as a fly-fishing guide by day and honing his songs in bars at night. His rootsy and plainspoken debut, Life of a Rolling Stone, was released in December 2020, a few months before the COVID-19 pandemic. Unable to promote the LP due to lockdown, Acuff cut his losses and started work on his sophomore effort. The resulting If I Were the Devil put the young artist on the map, delivering a more mature and resonant set of songs, including the streaming hits "Dying Breed" and the moody title track, rooted in classic country and windswept Americana. True to its title, 2022's Honky Tonk Heaven administered plenty of barroom twang with boot-stomping singles like "Bad Day to Be a Beer" and "Once in a Lifetime." A major-label deal with Sony Music Nashville and a move to Music City preceded the arrival of his fourth full-length effort. Released in 2023, Western White Pines saw Acuff working with producer/engineer Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan, Brandi Carlile, Cody Jinks) on a set of gritty and authentic songs that evoked the sound of the American West.
