SueCo
Los Angeles talent Sueco transitioned from behind-the-scenes beatmaker to artist in the spotlight when his debut single, "Fast," went viral in the spring of 2019. Fueled by traction on the short-form video app TikTok, "Fast" became a social media moment unto itself, with fans creating millions of videos soundtracked by the irreverent and subtly humorous midtempo banger. He signed on with Atlantic Records for his 2019 debut Miscreant, a wild blend of alternative styles. Following a barrage of singles, the full-length It Was Fun While It Lasted arrived in 2022. Released in 2023, "POS" was another highly streamed hit for Sueco.
Sueco was born William Schultz in 1997. By his early twenties, he had become a music producer best known for videos centered around making beats from random or outlandish sound sources. Originally going by the moniker Sueco the Child, the beatmaker occasionally added vocals to his productions. Early singles like 2018's "Henny in the Trunk" had an atmospheric character to complement his mumbling flow. Sueco posted the far grimier "Fast" online in April 2019, and it almost instantly took off on social media platforms. The spike in attention led to a contract with Atlantic Records, and in June of that year a remix of the viral song surfaced with new verses from Offset and A Boogie wit da Hoodie. The eight-song project Miscreant followed, and over the next few years Sueco stayed busy steadily releasing singles. These new songs included "Juice" and "Primadona" in 2020, followed by "SOS" featuring Travis Barker, "Paralyzed," and the Illenium and Trippie Redd collaboration "Story of My Life" in 2021. A handful of these songs later appeared on his 2022 full-length It Was Fun While It Lasted which landed in the latter half of the Billboard 200. He followed it later in the year with singles like "Next Ex," "Funeral," and the Southern rock-themed "Ride It Hard" with country artist Warren Zeiders. Sueco landed another big streaming hit in 2023 with "POS."
