Ashley Thomas
From its very beginnings, rap, like blues and rock, has been a music of protest and provocation. Bashy shook up legendary English phlegm with his controversial track "Black Boys". Like his French colleagues, Bashy castigates ordinary racism and ghettoization in crude terms. More than a hit, the track became a social issue in 2008, even though the young rapper's album Catch Me If You Can didn't generate a huge response.
