dreamcastmoe

Washington, D.C. native Dreamcastmoe mixes a grab bag of borrowed styles and applications to his breezy, free-flowing tracks, calling on vintage R&B, hazy memories of FM radio quiet storm, fluid funk and soul essences, and warped but gentle twists of hip-hop. Dreamcastmoe began releasing original songs in 2017 and signed to Ghostly sublabel Spectral Sound for the release of his 2022 project Sound Is Like Water. Dreamcastmoe was born Davon Bryant-Mason and grew up in Washington, D.C., absorbing the sounds, colors, and emotional currents of his city. The producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist began releasing songs under the name Dreamcast around 2017, sharing watery, FM synth-driven R&B tunes like "Floral Place" and "Liquid Deep" on the People's Potential Unlimited label. The one-off songs led to the release of his first full-length project, 2018's The Lost Tapes, Vol. 2, a synthesis of live instrumentation and deep electronic production. After issuing several other singles and ephemeral projects, and changing his name to Dreamcastmoe, Bryant-Mason signed on with Ghostly in 2022 and released the album Sound Is Like Water with the label in November of that year.
