Noel Schajris

Noel Schajris is an Argentine-born singer, songwriter, and pianist based in Mexico who experienced chart-topping success as part of the duo Sin Bandera during the early to mid-2000s before embarking on a solo career at the end of the decade. Born Nahuel Schajris Rodríguez on June 19, 1974, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he studied music at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música and moved to Mexico in 1997. A couple years later he made his solo album debut with Cita en las Nubes (1999) on Sony Music México. The album spawned the single "Ilumíname" and showcased an R&B style, but it wasn't a major commercial success. Schajris subsequently teamed up with fellow singer/songwriter Leonel García to form the duo Sin Bandera. The duo's music was a continuation of the R&B style showcased on Cita en las Nubes, with Schajris on piano, García on guitar, and both of them on vocals. In collaboration with producer Aureo Baqueiro, Sin Bandera went about recording their eponymous album debut for Sony Music. The album's bluesy lead single, "Entra en Mi Vida," was released in 2001 and became a smash hit, its popularity due in part to its use as the main theme of the Mexican telenovela Cuando Seas Mía. Sin Bandera was later released in 2002 and spawned several more hit singles including "Kilómetros" and "Sirena." The duo's second album, De Viaje (2003), was similarly successful, spawning another series of hits, including three Mexican chart-toppers, "Mientes Tan Bien," "Que Lloro," and "Amor Real." Increasingly successful throughout not only Mexico but the entire Spanish-language world, Sin Bandera's run of success continued for another two albums, Mañana (2005) and Pasado (2006), which spawned the respective hits "Suelta Mi Mano" and "Si Tú No Estás Aquí." In 2007 the duo split up and released the greatest-hits album Hasta Ahora. Schajris subsequently resumed his solo career, recording his second album, Uno No Es Uno (2009), at Abbey Road studios in London with producer Sebastián Krys.
