Susan Carol

Susan Carol combines poetic songwriting and a deep gospel background to make rich and emotive contemporary R&B. The native Texan appeared in 2016 with her self-produced Alchemy, and around the turn of the following decade gained more ground as she continued to record independently and collaborate with the likes of Full Crate and PJ Morton. Carol truly broke through in 2023 as the featured vocalist on Morton's Grammy-winning "Good Morning," and subsequently landed a contract with Def Jam. "Karma," a confrontational post-breakup ballad with throwback production from Harmony Samuels, was released in 2024 as Carol's major-label debut. Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Susan Carol Lewis started performing with her family in church, where her father was pastor. After she attended college at Texas A&M, she moved to Houston to further pursue music. Self-taught as a producer, she put together her first album, a mature set of contemporary R&B entitled Alchemy, and released it in 2016. Carol took a step back from music but returned in 2019 with "Ride," and was then sought by Netherlands-based producer Full Crate, who featured her as a co-writer and vocalist on his songs "Magnetic" and "Good to U." In 2021, Carol released Organic, an EP of four bare songs on which she accompanied herself on guitar. This was followed by another couple singles in 2022. The next year, Carol was featured on PJ Morton's "Good Morning," which won Best Traditional R&B Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Carol signed with Def Jam, and in April 2024 made her label debut with "Karma," a single she wrote with Ant Clemons, Nikki Grier, Varren Wade, and producer Harmony Samuels.
