Finnoguns Wake

Finnoguns Wake is the creative partnership of Finn Berzin and former Royal Headache vocalist Shogun, two songwriters and vocalists who trade lead duties while playing off each other's distinctive perspectives with melodically charged punk. Shogun brings his world-weary lyrics and sharply soulful vocals from Royal Headache, while Berzin's songwriting provides more optimistic counterpoints and adds traces of Brit-pop influence. Finnoguns Wake made their proper recording debut in 2024 with the four-song EP Stay Young. Shogun began working with Berzin (the younger brother of a good friend of his) in the early 2020s, after the former had toured extensively with multiple bands. Berzin was just starting out. They began writing songs together, inspired by both the loud-fast ethic of Hüsker Dü and the pop perfection of Oasis. The first material from Finnoguns Wake arrived in May of 2022 with A Tale of Two Geezers, an online release of two demos. These two songs were fleshed out in more defined versions along with two additional tracks for the Stay Young EP. Berzin and Shogun, both on guitar and co-lead vocals, were joined on these recordings by bassist Campbell Troy, keyboardist Gabrielle De Giorgio, and drummer Liam Hoskins. Stay Young was released by the What's Yr Rupture label in January of 2024.
