ROBYN HITCHCOCK

Auteur-compositeur, guitariste, interprète et fondateur du groupe post-punk The Soft Boys (1977-1980), Robyn Hitchcock (né en 1953) entame une carrière solo en 1981 avec l'album Black Diamond Snake Role, suivi de Groovy Decay et I Often Dream of Trains. Inspiré du psychédélisme et de Syd Barrett en particulier, ce dandy excentrique du rock anglais est apprécié du public américain de rock alternatif pour sa sensibilité non dénuée d'humour britannique : Fegmania! (1985) avec The Egyptians, Globe of Frogs (1988) et surtout Queen Elvis (1989). Reconnu pour son talent d'écriture et son originalité, Robyn Hitchcock poursuit une carrière régulière sur différents labels, enregistrant notamment Perspex Island (1991), Moss Elixir (1996), Jewels for Sophia (1999), Goodnight Oslo (2009), Propellor Time (2010) et The Man Upstairs (2014).
