YungManny

Maryland rapper YungManny differentiated himself from his peers, adding his own character to the high-energy flows of other rappers from his region and including obscure or absurd pop culture references in his lyrics. While his lyrical content at times verged on satirical, the rapper's powerful performances kept his songs grounded, even when he was substituting power drills for guns in his videos. YungManny's unique approach came through in several singles before the release of his 2019 collection The Best of YungManny. Hailing from Hillmeade, Maryland, YungManny was just 15 when he released his first single, "Chills," in 2017. His earlier style was more restrained, at times bordering on R&B with a partially rapped, partially sung style. By 2018, however, he was moving into a more aggressive rap style, with jittery beats and explosive, yelled delivery marking songs like "Bonfire Pt. 2" and "Moana." Around this time, it became more common to find YungManny populating his lyrics with references to Stewart Little, Hello Kitty, The Magic School Bus, and other cartoonish pop culture characters. Tracks like "Bitcoin," "All My Guys Are Ballers," and others were streamed over a million times each as YungManny reached more listeners. In 2019, he released both the Hey Manny 2 and The Best of YungManny mixtapes, the latter of which included 16 of his best-known tracks.
