Audrey MiKa
Singer Audrey Mika makes buoyant pop with textured R&B and electronic dance undercurrents. She broke through with her 2020 song "Y U Gotta B Like That" featuring KYLE off her 5 A.M. EP. She has continued to develop her sound with collaborative tracks with Gryffin and Young Bombs, blending ever more artful pop and rock sounds, as on 2023's "What About Japan."
Born in 2000 in Oakland, California, Mika grew up listening to her parents' traditional pop and jazz albums before discovering artists like Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Imagine Dragons, and Marina and the Diamonds. Around age 15, she began posting cover songs online, garnering buzz for her warm vocals and trademark kids' pink microphone. She eventually started writing and recording her own songs at home and in 2018 released her debut EP, Are We There Yet. She returned the next year with another EP, Level Up. Live appearances followed, and in February 2020 she released her third EP, 5 A.M., which included the viral hit "Y U Gotta B Like That" with KYLE. "Safe with Me," a collaboration with DJ Gryffin, arrived that November. More singles followed in 2021, including "Excuses" and "Alive." She joined Young Bombs for 2022's "Kinda Funny" before delivering 2023's synthy, rock-infused "What About Japan" and the bubbly, alternative R&B-leaning "Saturday."
