Jordana

Singer/songwriter Jordana Nye, aka Jordana, is known for her intimately cozy yet still danceable indie pop. She first garnered attention with her 2019 debut album, Classical Notions of Happiness. The Melvv-produced Something to Say to You arrived in 2021, followed by 2022's Face the Wall, both of which found Jordana building upon her love of '90s indie rock and continuing to hone her sound. She has also collaborated on singles, joining forces with Yot Club for 2023's "Safe House" and Paul Cherry for 2024's "My Idol," lyrical collaborations that set the stage for the folky, '60s and '70s sunshine pop sound she embraced on 2024's Lively Premonition. Hailing from North Beach, Maryland, Nye grew up the daughter of a church organist. Encouraged to play music from a young age, she started on violin at age nine and eventually added the ukulele, guitar, and bass. However, it wasn't until she turned 18 that she began writing and recording her own songs, drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of artists, including the Strokes, YeYe, Still Woozy, Toro y Moi, and others. Around the same time, she moved to Wichita, Kansas, and in 2019 self-released her debut album, Classical Notions of Happiness. The record found an audience online and was released on the Grand Jury label the following year. Building upon the buzz of her debut, Jordana issued her sophomore full-length, Something to Say to You, in 2021. Co-produced by Melvv, it combined her previous EPs Something to Say... and To You. In 2022, she returned with her third album, the Cameron Hale-produced Face the Wall. Several non-album singles followed, including 2023's "Safe House" with Yot Club and "Coasting on Fumes," a featured appearance with singer Dent May that arrived in February 2024. That May, Jordana released "My Idol," a breezy collaboration with Paul Cherry. All of these songs found her embracing a lyrical '60s and '70s Laurel Canyon brand of sunshine pop, a vibe she fully embodied on her fourth LP, Lively Premonition. Produced and recorded with instrumentalist Emmett Kai, the album arrived that September, anchored by the sun-dappled, Carpenters-esque single "We Get By."
