Trevor Gureckis

While recognized as a rising composer of film and television scores for the likes of M. Night Shyamalan (Servant) and John Crowley (The Goldfinch), Trevor Gureckis has written music for the ballet and chamber ensemble and produced remixes in the electronic sphere. A former assistant to Philip Glass, he has also worked as an arranger and orchestrator. His first solo album, 2019's Corte, combined orchestral and electronic components on a set of short-form instrumental compositions. A graduate of the Yale School of Music (2007 M.M.), Gureckis earned credits for score preparation on movies including Notes on a Scandal (2006) and Cassandra's Dream (2007) while working as Philip Glass' music assistant. Based in New York City, he co-founded the artist collective Found Objects with fellow Yale Music alumnus Jay Wadley. In 2012, he produced and performed on the album Rework: Philip Glass Remixed, also featuring Beck, Amon Tobin, and Cornelius. Assignments on a series of shorts and documentaries in the early 2010s led to Gureckis' feature debut as main composer on the 2015 thriller Rattle the Cage. In the meantime, he helped orchestrate Rufus Wainwright's opera Prima Donna, his piece Fixated Nights was recorded by the American Brass Quintet, and his ballet Potential Energies premiered in Brooklyn. He went on to compose music for the TV documentary Election Day: Lens Across America (2017) and the thrillers Wetlands (2017) and Bloodline (2018) as demand for his score music increased. The year 2019 saw the release of his solo debut album, Corte, on Supertrain Records. The year also offered the Brazilian films Kardec and Amor Assombrado, both featuring Gureckis' music, as well as the Warner/Amazon feature The Goldfinch, an adaptation of Donna Tartt's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. He was also the main composer for the Apple TV+ series Servant, which began airing that November. It was co-produced by M. Night Shyamalan, who also directed some of the episodes.
