Vianney

Vianney Bureau, who operates under the mononym Vianney, is a popular French singer/songwriter who performs using his voice, guitar, and loop pedals and layers to generate backing vocals and percussion. Emerging in 2014 with the double-platinum-selling Idées blanches, the award-winning artist soared to the top of the French charts with subsequent efforts Vianney (2016) and N'attendons pas (2020). Born in Paris to a musical family -- his father was a singer and guitarist -- it wasn't long before Vianney Bureau picked up the guitar himself; by the time he was 12 years old, he was writing fully fledged songs. In 2009, Vianney attended the Paris School of Business, later moving to London to finish his degree. Upon returning to Paris, he met Isabelle Vaudey -- who would become his manager -- prompting him to pursue a career in music. Three years on and Vianney was ready to release his debut album, 2014's Idée blanches, produced by Antoine Essertier, whom he had met while touring in France. The success of his debut caught the attention of French independent record label Tôt ou Tard, which then signed him to their roster. The following year saw Vianney nominated for a string of awards, most notably the W9 Talent Award, besting other acts including Christine and the Queens, Indila, and the Dø. In 2016, Vianney released his eponymous sophomore album, which went straight to number one in the official French charts. Two years later, he issued the live LP Le Concert, and in 2020 he topped the French charts once again with his platinum-selling third full-length effort, N'attendons pas.
