The Clay People
Hailing from Albany, NY, the techno-rock outfit the Clay People originally formed in 1989. Although many different members have passed through their ranks throughout the years, two constant members have been vocalist Dan Neet and guitarist Dan McGarvey. Over the course of five albums, the band has evolved from a sequencer-based band to a more conventionally rock-based one, but without sacrificing any of their heavy, aggressive techno sound. Settling on a lineup that consists of Neet and McGarvey along with drummer Dan Dinsmore, second guitarist Mike Guzzardi, and bassist Dan Walsh, the group signed to Slipdisc Records, an affiliate of Mercury. 1998 saw the release of their self-titled album, which was produced by Neil Kernon (who has worked in the past with the likes of David Bowie and Queensryche).
