Full Crate

Amsterdam-based producer, songwriter, and DJ Full Crate's music ranges from chilled-out hip-hop to club-friendly R&B. His earliest releases include the downtempo soul EP Conversations with Her (with Mar) and instrumental hip-hop LP Hi-Hat Club (Vol. 5): Eggs and Pancakes (with FS Green), both in 2010. From there, he began to embrace more house and tropical dance influences on releases like his 2017 EP Vogue, and he worked with a wide variety of vocalists, including Dutch singer Gaidaa and American rappers Saba and Trinidad James. His 2023 full-length A Kid from Yerevan focused on romantic, relationship-themed R&B songs. Narek Nikoghosyan was born in Armenia in 1985, and moved to the Netherlands when he was 13. Going by the moniker Full Crate, he began making hip-hop and dancehall beats, and started releasing music toward the end of the 2000s. Along with fellow DJ and producer FS Green, he released a monthly series of mixes, typically focusing on hip-hop, neo-soul, and house. He also regularly collaborated with singer/songwriter Mar, and the two released the EP Conversations with Her on Melting Pot Music in early 2010. Hi-Hat Club (Vol. 5): Eggs and Pancakes, an instrumental beat LP with FS Green, was issued later in the year. Golden Glasses, an EP of futuristic R&B and hip-hop, appeared in 2011. Full Crate collaborated with Jesse Boykins III for the 2012 single "Her Throne." Several more songs with Mar followed, including 2014's "Man X Woman." On Her Own, a house EP featuring Gia Koka and Saidah Conrad, appeared in 2016. The dancehall-trap track "Dirty Nasty (Big Booty Problem)" was released in 2017, and was soon reworked with the Partysquad and Nick & Navi as "Hot," issued by Diplo's Mad Decent. Full Crate also released Vogue, an EP featuring guests including Trinidad James, Bluey Robinson, and Papa Ghana. Full Crate continued fusing beach-friendly house and dancehall with the 2018 single "Dangereux," featuring Shakka and Boddhi Satva. "A Storm on a Summers Day," a simmering soul-house tune featuring Sudanese Dutch singer Gaidaa, became one of the producer's most heavily streamed tracks and was included on his EP Still Growing, which also featured collaborations with Saba and Luke Burr. 2019 saw singles with Jayd Ink ("LowKey"), the BLK LT$ ("The River"), and Naomi Sharon ("Deeper"). The single "Brothers & Sisters" (with UHMEER and Susan Carol) and EP In All Honesty (featuring Kyle Dion, Latanya Alberto, Jairus Mozee, and others) both appeared in 2020. Full Crate was featured on DJ Nu-Mark's instrumental cover of Busta Rhymes' "Pass the Courvoisier," released as a 7" single in 2021. He also collaborated with Gangs of Kin and Elique for the song "Rollercoaster," and "Good to U" featured A-Trak and Slum Village's T3. In 2023, Full Crate released the R&B album A Kid from Yerevan, with BJ the Chicago Kid, Jordyn, and MALIA among its guest vocalists.
