Jatoma
Danish producers Jatoma -- often depicted as a faceless trio -- were low-key about their real-life identities. Their names were eventually revealed as veteran Tomas Barfod (Tomboy, WhoMadeWho) and relative youngsters Tomas and Mads (both of whom were well out of their twenties when the group took shape). Early in 2010, the group gained the attention of Kompakt’s Michael Mayer, and they were granted a spot on the Cologne-based label's Total 11 compilation, issued that August. “Helix” was one of the two-disc set’s highlights, a playful dancefloor track that knocked, rattled, and shimmered in roughly equal measure. Just over two months later, Jatoma released their debut self-titled album.
