Chase McDaniel

Singer/songwriter Chase McDaniel's rock/country hybrid is filled with an edgy swagger and streetwise lyrics that reflect the outlook of a man who has had a few misadventures in life and love, but with a dose of honesty and just the right amount of humor. McDaniel scored a hit with his self-released track "Relapse" in 2021, and built his growing fan by following with songs like the bad-boyfriend anthem "Project" and the 2022 love song "Your Daughter." All were included on his 2024 debut EP, Blame It All on Country Music. Chase McDaniel was born and raised in Kentucky, growing up in Campbellsville and nearby Greensburg. When he was eight years old, his grandfather gave him a copy of "Long Black Train," Josh Turner's 2003 hit, and he played it over and over, fascinated by his deep, expressive voice and traditionalist country sound. As young McDaniel became more interested in music, his grandfather encouraged him to take up singing in the choir at church, and at the age of 12, he was gaining confidence as he performed in front of the congregation. He also became fascinated with how the words in a song could tell a story and with the power music could have to express emotions and improve someone's frame of mind. His tastes ran from AC/DC to John Mayer to Tim McGraw. As McDaniel set his sights on making music his career, he learned to play guitar, started playing shows, and in 2016 relocated to Nashville when he was recruited to join a group called 4th & Main. Blending contemporary country melodies to four-part harmonies, 4th & Main released their debut EP in 2017 and delivered a pair of EPs in 2019, Bad with Me and Imagine This Christmas. While their song "I Prayed for You" picked up some streaming play, the group didn't score a breakout hit, and McDaniel struck out on his own. He penned a song about a relationship gone bad called "Relapse," and he self-released the track in November 2021. The song captured the interest of country fans and scored impressive numbers on streaming services, and it was followed by a more optimistic song about romance, "Big City, Small Town." For "Better in a Glass," which came out in March 2022, McDaniel teamed with O-I Glass, a leading manufacturer of glass bottles, which used the song's upbeat tone and endorsement of beer in a bottle as part of a promotional campaign. It was his fourth self-released song, "Project," that became McDaniel's major breakthrough in May 2022. Promoted with videos on social media that showed friends and fans dancing to the song, "Project" entered the Hot Country Songs chart at a promising number 46. It was McDaniel's biggest success yet, and he followed it that September with "Your Daughter" and "Drop Your Tailgate." Nearly all of these singles were later collated on the 2024 EP Blame It All on Country Music.
