Iron

Jung Hun-cheol, known by his stage name Iron, was a South Korean rapper born on January 8, 1992. Rising to fame as a contestant on Show Me the Money 3, Iron gained recognition for his powerful performances and deep, resonant voice. In 2014, he released his hit single "I Am" and was featured in collaborations, including the popular tracks "Erase" with Hyolyn and Jooyoung, and "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)" with SHINee's Jonghyun. He continued his success with the track "Puss," which he performed alongside Shin Ji-min on Unpretty Rapstar, securing his place in the South Korean hip-hop scene. Iron released his only album, Rock Bottom, in 2016, expressing raw and gritty themes that mirrored his rebellious persona. However, his career was overshadowed by a series of legal controversies. In 2016, he was convicted of marijuana use, and in 2018, he was found guilty of assault against an ex-girlfriend, which damaged his public image. In December 2020, he faced another charge for assaulting a minor roommate. On January 25, 2021, Iron was found unconscious outside an apartment complex and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. His sudden passing left a complex legacy in the K-hip-hop community, marked by both his musical contributions and turbulent personal life.
