Jana Mila

A singer/songwriter from the Netherlands, Jana Mila's songs are steeped in the influence of warm, American West Coast folk-rock, the resonant instrumentation of modern country, and awareness. After releasing the alt-country track "When Times Get Rough" in 2022, her 2024 debut album, Chameleon, shifted toward a more metropolitan adult alternative pop with a country undertone, an amalgamation that landed her on Nashville's New West Records. Jana Mila (Yah-nuh MEE-lah) was born and raised in Amsterdam to a very diverse musical family. (Her mother sang Brazilian music, her father was a big-band saxophonist, and her brother studied the music of India.) Primarily inspired by indie and folk sounds as a teenager, she performed locally but quickly realized where her songs would find the strongest foothold. In 2022, she made a pilgrimage to Nashville to try her hand at attracting producers and labels. After a one-off single, the acoustic “When Times Get Rough,” raked in millions of streams, she soon found a strong kindred spirit in Music City guitarist Todd Lombardo, who’d lent his talents to Kacey Musgraves' Golden Hour, Star-Crossed, and Deeper Well, as well as tracks by Lady A and Niall Horan. Lombardo produced sessions for her whose rich blend of folk-rock and songwriter pop and nods to country caught the ear of venerable indie label New West Records, which released her full-length debut, Chameleon, in August 2024.
