The Reklaws
Ontario-based sibling country duo the Reklaws lean toward the pop end of the country music spectrum. They became a breakout success in 2018 when their single "Feels Like That" topped the Canadian Country chart and their EP of the same name earned them a Juno nomination. The band landed a second hit the following year with the uplifting and extremely catchy, "I Do Too," which appeared on their debut album, Freshman Year. Over the next several years, the Reklaws became Canadian country chart staples, releasing two more albums, 2020's Sophomore Slump and 2022's Good Ol' Days, and notching big hits including the chart-topping "11 Beers" with Jake Owen and "Honky Tonkin' About" with Drake Milligan. A 2024 EP, Outliving (For Mom), was dedicated to their late mother.
Two of five siblings, Jenna and Stuart Walker have sung together since childhood when they would entertain tourists at their family's Yee Haw Adventure Farm in Cambridge, Ontario. They began their professional career as a duo in 2012, playing at regional festivals where, in 2013, they won the Emerging Artist Showcase at the Boots and Hearts Music Festival. Over the coming years they traveled frequently to Nashville where they learned about the industry and honed their skills, eventually landing opening gigs for major acts like Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, and Blake Shelton. Early on, while trying to decide on a band name, their mother suggested the Reklaws (Walker spelled backwards). The name stuck and when they signed with Universal Canada and released their debut single, "Hometown Kids," the Reklaws made their first entry on the country chart. Of the two EPs they released in 2018, it was the latter, Feels Like That, that firmly established them, and its title track hit number one and went gold. By the year's end they had landed not only a Juno nomination, but won a Canadian Country Music Award. The Reklaws' rise continued in 2019 with the Top Ten single "I Do Too," and their full-length debut, Freshman Year, which was released that August. The duo returned to work in early 2020, collaborating with country star Dean Brody on the party anthem "Can't Help Myself," which topped the Canadian country chart. The Reklaws followed this success with their second album, the wryly titled Sophomore Slump, later that year. Its two singles, "Where I'm From" and "Not Gonna Not" were both Top Five country hits. Released as a promotional single in 2021, "What the Truck" became another platinum-selling hit which they shared with collaborator Sacha. The duo's luck with collaborations continued on 2022's "11 Beers" with American star Jake Owen which again topped the Canadian country chart and appeared, alongside "What the Truck," on their Juno-nominated third album Good Ol' Days, in November 2022. At the 2023 Canadian Country Music Awards, Good Ol' Days was named the Top Selling Canadian Album of the Year. The band managed to bottle their live energy on the 2023 concert album The Reklaws: Live at History, then teamed up with Drake Milligan for the chart-topping "Honky Tonkin' About." Amid 2024 singles like "I Grew Up on a Farm" and "One Beer Away," the Reklaws released Outliving (For Mom), an EP honoring their late mother.
