Da' Zoo

With a diverse set of influences, the Puerto Rican foursome known as Da' Zoo may come off as a Latin alternative to the Black Eyed Peas, but their campy outfits and sunshine-bright songs show the additional influence of '90s dance-pop groups like Deee-Lite and LEN. Charly "Zoo" Rodríguez had been playing with the band Marco, while Freddie "Yo-Fred" Lugo was in Sí Señor before the duo came together and began imagining a new project. After recruiting Raul "Raggi" Quezada and Elizabeth "Eli-Joe" Fuentes, they came up with the name Da' Zoo, thanks to Charly's observation that they were "four animals making music" holed up in a recording studio. After signing with Sony/BMG, their "Chitu" single landed in late 2008, with their self-titled debut album arriving the next spring. In 2011, the group reappeared as a duo -- featuring Charly Zoo and Kai Zoo -- and with a hit single, "La La La (Hot Girls)." Another hit single, "Sin Ti," followed in 2015.
