Eric Dodd
A singer whose tales of cold beer, good times, and beautiful women find some room for loyalty and true love, Eric Dodd is an artist whose music begins with contemporary country sounds and adds pop melodies, R&B and hip-hop production accents, and rock & roll guitars. A native of the Peach State, early on Dodd's loyalties were divided between golf and music, but when music won out, he relocated to Nashville, where he found an audience for fun-loving numbers like "Baecation" and "Fun" as well as heartfelt ballads such as "The Reason" and "Pretty Girl, Lucky Guy."
Eric Dodd was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and when he was a year old, his family moved 85 miles west to Lake Oconee. There, Eric's father, Rick Dodd, was director of golf at a successful golf and lake community, Reynolds Lake Oconee. Eric shared his dad's love of golf and began playing at the age of six, but he also inherited his love of music -- Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Marshall Tucker Band, and Bob Dylan were Rick's personal favorites -- and when he was 13, he took up the guitar. (His mother permitted Eric to take guitar lessons under the condition that he also study piano.) In high school, Dodd formed his first band with friends Jesse Triplett and Tom Dupree; Triplett and Dupree would go on to form the band Throwing Gravity, and Triplett later became lead guitarist with Collective Soul. Dodd's talent as a golfer earned him a scholarship at Georgia College and State University, where he studied business, but he continued to play music in his spare time, and he eventually transferred to the University of Georgia to study finance and music business, attracted in part by the thriving music scene in Athens.
Dodd divided his time in Athens between his studies and performing, playing gigs at bars, music clubs, and campus parties throughout the SEC conference. After graduating, Dodd moved to Atlanta and worked in financial services, but music was still his great passion in life, and in 2014, he relocated to Nashville to pursue his dream full time. Dodd first began making a name for himself as a songwriter, penning nearly 300 songs in his first two years in Music City, and in 2016 he released his first EP, Fun / Fire / Rain, which was produced by his old high school friend Jesse Triplett. In 2017, he signed a publishing deal with MV2 Entertainment, and his 2018 single "The Reason" led to him being tapped for the CMT Artist Discovery Program. In 2019, Dodd was back with a party-hearty single titled "Baecation."
