AbstractA new 2D dibutyltin coordination polymer with 3,5-dinitrosalicylate and 4,4’-bipyridine ligands, [{Bu2Sn(3,5–(NO2)2–2–OC6H2COO)}2(4,4’-bpy)]n (1), has been synthesized and characterized both spectroscopically (IR, 1H, 13C, and 119Sn NMR) and a single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The coordination geometry of tin atom in 1 is a distorted octahedron. 3,5-Dinitrosalicylate as doubly charged anion ligand adopts chelating-bridging mode to coordinate to tin atoms, and 4,4’-bipyridine further bridges the tin atoms to form a 2D herringbone-like network structure containing the 34-membered hexa-nuclear macrocycles.

In the title compound, [Co(C10H8N2)3](C9H5N4O)2, the tris(2,2′-bipyridine)cobalt(II) dication lies across a twofold rotation axes in the space group C2/c. The N atoms of the three bipyridine ligands form a distorted octahedron around the cobalt ion. All the N atoms of the polynitrile 1,1,3,3-tetracyano-2-ethoxypropenide anions participate in C—H...N hydrogen bonds ensuring crystal cohesion and forming a three-dimensional structure. The structure is further stabilized by C—H...π(cation) and anion...π(cation) interactions.

A novel two-dimensional ferromagnetic stable boron material has been predicted and exhaustively studied with DFT methods. Its magnetism can be described by the presence of two unpaired delocalized bonding elements inside each distorted octahedron.

The reaction of 2-aminonicotinaldehyde with 2- or 4-methoxyacetophenone in basic media leads to the new ligands 2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,8-naphthyridine and 2-(2-methoxyphenyl)-1,8-naphthyridine, respectively, in high yield. The reaction of these naphthyridine derivatives with [RuCl2(CO)2] n leads to the respective complexes cis-dicarbonyldichloridobis[2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,8-naphthyridine-κN 8]ruthenium(II) and cis-dicarbonyldichloridobis[2-(2-methoxyphenyl)-1,8-naphthyridine-κN 8]ruthenium(II), both [RuCl2(C15H12N2O)2(CO)2], in good yield. Both ruthenium(II) complexes display a slightly distorted octahedron with two cis carbonyl, two cis chloride and two cis naphthyridine ligands, the latter coordinated in a monodentate fashion through the N atom in the 8-position. Both complexes exhibit a moderate catalytic activity in the hydrogen-transfer reaction from propan-2-ol to acetophenone in the presence of a base, with 100% selectivity.

A novel Na2WO2F4:Mn4+red-emitting phosphor, exhibiting an ultra-intense zero phonon line at 620 nm, is demonstrated to be promising for LED lightings and displays.

The structure determination was undertaken as part of a project on the synthesis of new spin-crossover compounds based on octahedral FeIIbis(pyrazolyl)borate complexes. The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Fe(H2B(pz)2)2(CH3OH)2] [H2B(pz)2= dihydrobis(pyrazol-1-yl)borate, C6H8BN4], consists of one FeIIcation that is located on a centre of inversion, as well as one methanol molecule and one H2B(pz)2dianion that occupy general positions. In the crystal, the FeIIcations are coordinated by two methanol molecules and four N atoms of two H2B(pz)2anions within a slightly distorted octahedron. Bond lengths and angles between the FeIIatom and the H2B(pz)2anion are comparable to those in related FeIIcomplexes.

The common feature of the title compounds, [Zn(C5H10NO2S2)2(C10H8N2)]·2H2O, (I), and [Zn(C6H12NOS2)2(C10H8N2)], (II), is the location of the ZnIIatoms on a twofold rotation axis. Further, each ZnIIatom is chelated by two symmetry-equivalent and symmetrically coordinating dithiocarbamate ligands and a 2,2′-bipyridine ligand. The resulting N2S4coordination geometry is based on a highly distorted octahedron in each case. In the molecular packing of (I), supramolecular ladders mediated by O—H...O hydrogen bonding are found whereby the uprights are defined by {...HO(water)...HO(hydroxy)...}nchains parallel to theaaxis and with the rungs defined by `Zn[S2CN(CH2CH2)2]2'. The water molecules connect the ladders into a supramolecular layer parallel to theabplaneviawater-O—H...S and pyridyl-C—H...O(water) interactions, with the connections between layers being of the type pyridyl-C—H...S. In (II), supramolecular layers parallel to theabplane are sustained by hydroxy-O—H...S hydrogen bonds with connections between layers being of the type pyridyl-C—H...S.

In the title compound, [Re(C10H6NO2)(CO)3{As(C6H5)3}], the coordination environment of ReIis that of a distorted octahedron. Three coordination sites are occupied by three carbonyl groups in a facial arrangement and the remaining three sites by triphenylarsane and deprotonated quinaldic acid inAs-mono- andN,O-bidentate fashions, respectively. In the crystal, the complexes are linked through weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. It worth noting that, as far as we know, this complex is the first ReItriphenylarsane tricarbonyl compound to be reported.

The whole molecule of the title compound, [Mn(NCS)2(CH3OH)2(C5H6N2)2], is generated by inversion symmetry. The MnIIion, which is located on an inversion center, is coordinated by two 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine ligands, two methanol ligands and two terminallyN-bonded thiocyanate anions, forming a slightly distorted octahedron. In the crystal, molecules are linked by O—H...S hydrogen bonds, forming chains extending along thea-axis direction.
