worldwide. While any supporter of gay marriage would stress on the protection of human rights and individual freedom of choice, people who are against gay marriage point out the ethical and religious concerns that govern the society. Even though gay marriage possesses legal recognition in some states, the moral and ethical dimensions were always questioned by intellectuals, sociologists, researchers and experts. Thus, the proponents of gay marriage argue that it is better that homosexuals engage in gay marriage as they are unable to lead a normal heterosexual married life. They also argue that the homosexuality is not a mental illness and is an inherent character of humans which should be treated similarly as the case of heterosexuals. Both morality and religion condemn gay marriages; the concept of gay marriage is against the teachings of Christianity as it upholds that God has designed human beings as men and women to complement each other and marriage is the primary institution that unites both men and women. In this respect, Stanton and Maier observe that the supporters of gay marriage do not take into account the inter dependency between men and women and they believe that gender has nothing to do with marriage (Stanton & Maier, 2010, p. 7). While the supporters of gay marriage stress on the freedom of individual choices and the significance of individual human rights, one can never undermine the adverse social and ethical impacts of gay marriage on communities. The rights of the homosexuals should be recognised whereas gay marriage should be wiped out for the common good of the society. There is no doubt that family as the most powerful institution that moulds societies and nation would cease to exist once gay marriage is being promoted. Similarly, gay marriage is against the natural order of the universe as homosexuality never yields any fruits in terms of procreation.
