Digital Photography History Lesson Activity
Core Values of Democracy Project Description This project is designed to assess the students understanding of the core values of democracy. Those values include- popular consent and sovereignty, majority rule, worth of the individual, equality of opportunity, and personal freedom. The students will depict those values in photographic images. The final project will consist of a slide show produced in iPhoto. The images used can include photos of people in the community, symbolic images, and/or staged images by the students themselves. In addition, the pictures can be downloaded from the Internet. Music choices to back the slide show should be appropriate to the subject matter. Outcomes After completing the project, the students will: Develop a deeper understanding of the core values of democracy. Be able to equate those values with community, state, and national images. Develop basic skills with digital cameras, the Internet, and digital photo software. Technology Skills After completing this project the students will be able to: Use Canon digital cameras at a basic level. Use the Internet to download pictures and graphics. Use iPhoto to manipulate digital images. Use iTunes to import music and place that music in a slide show. Assessment Suggestions Students can assess each others work using a teacher-created rubric.
