Course Content & Summary What will students know and be able to do after this course? Begin to identify the topic of familiar material used in unfamiliar settings Produce accurately the sounds of unfamiliar material Read aloud unfamiliar material in new settings Begin to produce related sentences, which form simple paragraphs about unfamiliar material

Required Materials What will students need to bring to class? Standard blue/black pens, pencils, dry erase marker 1-2 3-ring binder or folder Paper or spiral notebook for written work Together, we will demonstrate respect, responsibility, and trustworthiness by following these policies: You will be expected to adhere to the building policies and procedures listed in your student handbook and discussed during advisory at the beginning of the 2013-14 school year. Classroom procedures consistent with the building policies will be developed, taught and modeled at the beginning of each term. Reporting & Additional Information Specific course related procedures: Grading: Students will have cumulative exams at the end of each term worth 15% of the overall term grade. Practice assignments are worth 5% of the term grade. There will be several quizzes and projects throughout the term. These will be worth 30% of the grade. Tests will make up the final 50% of the students grade. Goals: the 5 Cs of language acquisition Communicate in Spanish Gain knowledge and understanding of other cultures Connect the Spanish language and culture to other subject areas and students life Compare students language and culture to the Spanish language and culture Participate in multi-lingual communities beyond the classroom Expectations: Be responsible Be prepared Be positive Be respectful Do your best work Speak as much Spanish as possible Thank you for choosing this course!
