Rafiquzzaman Date: 13/01/2014 1) Describe the characteristic features of modern machining processes that distinguish them from conventional machining processes. 2) Explain the reasons that lead to the development of Unconventional machining processes. 3) Discuss the mechanism of material removal in USM, WJM, AWJM, ECM, EDM and EBM process? 4) Write the specific applications and limitations of USM, WJM, AWJM, ECM, EDM and EBM process? 5) If suppose USM is used for drilling a hole (under the same machining conditions) in Aluminium and Cast Iron. Which one will have higher depth of the drilled hole and why? 6) Explain the functions of 'Horn' in USM. 7) What do you understand by, transducer' and 'magnetostriction effects? 8) Write the factors that affect the performance of WJM (water Jet machine) process. Discuss their effect in brief.
