recommended for beginners) .

2. Importing Data

Wellcad allows you to import log data stored in various formats (e.g. *.WCL ,*TXT, *.CSV etc) and
these can be used to create other logs as well as perform some complex analysis on the data. Before
proceeding to steps required to import data, spend some time to read the following sections found in
the Wellcad basic documentation:

a) Start Wellcad
b) Examples of WELLCAD documents *.WCL can be found in C:\Program Files\Advanced
Logic Technology\WellCAD Evaluation\Samples. Use the following steps to open and
visualize their content: File open.
The display can give you clues on how to best plot multiple data logs in your workspace.

c) In order to import a single file use the following option: File import single file;
substitute multiple file in place of single file when you want to import multiple files or core
images.
NB: Wellcad software is case sensitive to the names of files used e.g. DATA.csv results in
an error message whereas DATA.CSV will be read with no problem. The illustration
below shows how you can import various well logs from 5L-38 CMR.CSV

At this stage, you have the option of importing all the logs or only a few. For this exercise, import
T12R, KTIM_TAPER and BFV_TAPER. The imported logs are shown below

In the plot above, the KTIM_TAPER log is plot on a log scale. You can do this by selecting the
log of interest and then selecting the following options from menu options: View log
settingsmain settings

3. Creating Cross plots
Tools Cross plot

Crossplots can also be tailored to include information of a third property such as depth.
The axes labels and titles can be modified by using the Plot, X, and Y settings found the View drop
down menu.
There also exist other ways of interactively analyzing your data (e.g. cluster analysis, creating
percentage logs, adding regression linesetc, see section 1.8).

4. Including annotations in your display
See section 1.6 of Wellcad manual

5. Saving your project

File Save
