This document provides information on Bhrigu Maharishi's Pada Dasa system of timing events in a person's life based on the placement of planets. It begins with an introduction to Pada Dasa and how to calculate the 12 padas or mounts for each house. It then lists the lords of each pada. The document discusses the cyclic periods of the planets that are used for the pada dasa timing and provides tables of this information. It provides examples of how to use the pada dasa system to time a specific event like marriage by examining the house, lord, and pada lord transits during the dasa periods.

Bhrighu Pada Dasa System A Leaf of Bhrighu Maharishi By Dr K.P.Vaani, India Readership Level: Advanced
y Divine grace of my Guruji Dr. Naresh ,Chandigarh and under able guidance of Shri A.V.Sundaram Im here presenting basic treatise on Pada Dasa System of Timing timing events of natives life with Bhrigu cycle of the planets.
There are various predictive tools available in Jyotish. Among them Bhrigu Maharishis Pada Dasa is an important technique for predicting or timing an event. But this method is not practiced for B 753 want of proper information for application which is due to non availability of literature, article or texts. Recently in ICAS-Secunderabad chapter Nadi Course on different levels was conducted under able co-ordination of Shri A.V.Sundaram an eminent Nadi Researcher and National Joint Secretary ICAS. In the course of the study, Bhrigu Pada dasas were extensively worked out. I am thankful to the authors/speakers especially Shri Tejan Bose who contributed in Bhrighu Pada System.
To begin with we must find the Arudha Pada of the houses. Arudha Pada also called as Pada and means Mount and refers to the image of a sign falling on another due to reflection of the rays emanating from it and being reflected by its lord.
Computation Of Arudha Padas
Arudha Pada is obtained by counting the number of the houses, the house lord had moved away from that particular house in question. The house so obtained will be the Arudha for that house under consideration.
For example the pada of the ascendant will correspond to the sign arrived by counting the number of signs from the ascendant lord ahead from ascendant.
Similarly the padas for 12 bhavas or houses should be computed from the placement of house lord or lord away from the house.
Therefore the 12 Padas arrived from 12 houses can be termed as follows shown in the Table.1.
House Pada First House Lagna Pada Second House Second Pada Third House Third Pada Fourth House Fourth Pada Fifth House Fifth Pada Sixth House Sixth Pada Seventh House Seventh Pada Eighth House Eighth Pada 754 Ninth House Ninth Pada Tenth House Tenth Pada Eleventh House Eleventh Pada Twelfth Pada Twelfth Pada

If the lord of the house is in the same house the 10 th house in question there from can be treated as its pada . ex. In the above chart, 9 th lord is sun in its own house, Simha, therefore the 9 th pada falls in the 10 th house from Simha, i.e. Vrishaba.
2. If the lord of the house is in the 7 th , pada falls in the opposite house but being Kendra, pada falls in 10 th house from the said house. ,ex. Cancer lagna, the lagna lord falls in the seventh (Makara),then lagna pada falls in cancer, which is Kendra, hence it should again be shifted to 10 th from it i.e. Mesha.
3. If the lord of the bhava is in the 4 th from bhava, then the pada falls in the 7 th , since it is Kendra, it should again be shifted to 10 th .Ex. Vrishabha Lagna, LL is in 4 th house (Simha), then lagna pada falls in Vrischika, which is again Kendra, hence it should be shifted to 10 th from it, i.e. Simha again.
4. If the lord of the bhava falls in the 10 th bhava from its place, then the pada falls in the 4 th
bhava in question. Ex. Sagittarius Lagna, Mars is the 5 th lord, posited in Makara (10 th ) therefore the 5 th pada falls in the 10 th from makara i.e. Thula, which is Kendra hence pada is shifted again to 10 th from Thula which is Cancer thus finally being 4 th from Mesha (bhava in question).
After the padas are computed for each bhava, then pada lords for each pada can be listed. 756 Table.2. S.No. PADA LORD PADA 1. SUN 6 P 2. MOON 5 P, 10 P 3. MARS 2 P, 8 P 4. MERCURY 3 P, 11P 5. JUPITER L P, 4P, 12 P 6. VENUS 7 P 7. SATURN ---
As per Vedic texts any event in an individuals life will fructify as per the promise in the natal chart during the dasas and gochara but as per Bhrigu Pada Dasa Technique the event will occur when the Pada lord will transit the particular house at that particular age of the life. This pada dasa system of Bhrigu Maharishis corresponds almost to the Metonic cycle of planets which refers to the return of the planets to the same position of the Zodiac with respect to the fixed star. Dasa Periods of the planets are derived as per the periodic revolutions made in the Zodiac to come back to the exact position of the star. Table 3. : Cyclic Periods of Planets S.No. Planet Period in 12 Rasis Period in One Rasi 1. Sun 19 Years 1 y 7 m
2. Moon 45 Years 3 y 9 m

6. Ven 27 Years 2 y 3 m
7. Sat 30 Years 2 y 6 m
757 Table 4: Pada Dasas Of Planets
Now that the periods allotted to the planets or the pada lords are seen as above in the table. Thus the event will be assessed when the pada lords are transiting the sign with the padas. The procedure for confirming of the event through the pada dasa system using this Metonic cycle of period is as follows.
From the natal chart compute the 12 padas for 12 houses. List out the pada lords. To time any event, calculate the present age of the native. Also list out the house lords, padas and pada lords related to the particular event. Then find out the dasa period of the pada lords related to the particular event. Finally event will be timed when these pada lords at that particular age will be influencing the house, house lord, pada and the karaka. Some Principles Involved In Timing Of Event Dasa Period of pada lord is directly involved with the event. Bhrigu system of astrology gives maximum importance to Kendra/Trikonas. Thus whenever the pada lords are in trine or kendra to the house lords/house or crossing the house, then the events will be fructified.{ Kendra-Self effort, Trines-Fate} Lagna pada signifies protection; it will try to protect the native from total effects.
Ex. To time the marriage event for a native, the following should be analyzed. : House - Lagna , 7 House House lords - Lagna lord, 7th lord Pada lords - Pada lord of Lagna lord, Pada lord of 7th lord Present age of the native. Dasa Periods of pada lords influencing Lagna, Lagna lord, and 7th house, 7th lord
Event will occur when the pada lords during their dasas will influence the houses, house lords and karaka by moving over them or in trines to them.
In the chart given below we will discuss marriage event
For Example: Chart A: Sep-10-1939, 2.20 P.M. Madras

Therefore at the given marriageable age the pada lords are moving through the houses and the house lords as per the Table 3 & 4 and chart given above.
Predicting the marriage as per information given above:
For the marriage event to occur the pad lords of Lagna lord (LL), and 7 th lord (7 L ) should influence these parameters (L, LL,7 H , 7 L ,Karaka) during their dasa periods.
Lagna : Mars as pada lord of 2P (Kutumbh), 8P (Marriage contract ) is moving over lagna, and is in Kendra to seventh house directly influencing the native for the marriage to occur at 27 Y 07 M 25 D
Lagna Lord: is influenced by the mercury, pada lord of 3P and 11 th pada and the seventh lord crossing over lagna lord and also over lagna pada and 12 th pada at marriageable age of 27 Y
07 M 25 D
Seventh House: At 27 Y 07 M 25 D , Jupiter the pada lord of lagna lord is moving through seventh house in Kendra to lagna, lagna lord, thereby making the marriage to occur.
Seventh Lord: Venus the pada lord of the 7 th pada is directly causing the event by moving over the seventh lord and natal Venus which is also the karaka for marriage is also directly influenced by Venus, karaka for marriage moving over it.

Conclusion: Therefore it can be concluded that pada lord are very vital in Bhrigu Pada system of timing the event. The pada lords during its dasa period will make the event to occur by directly influencing through its movement over the house or the house lords.
