Dear Thomas McKay,
I would like to express my interest in architecture and a possible summer internship position
with you at McKay Architecture and Design. Looking into your company I see you embrace the new
technologies the architecture world has to offer, but you still remain grounded with the history and
knowledge of the developing methods. I have experiences with the new programs and can create
documents in a time efficient and effective manner.
I am currently a junior at Ferris State University and am enrolled in the Architecture and
Sustainability program and minoring in Facility Management Planning. Last May I graduated with my
Associate in Applied Science in Architectural Technology. In addition to meeting the requirements of
the Architecture curriculum, I am also a member of the American Institute of Architecture Students
and hold the positon of Fundraising Coordinator on their executive board. My six years of customer
service experience working at a local restaurant as shift manager has developed a broad set of
skills such as managing employees, problem solving, and finishing tasks with a team in a time
efficient fashion. I am a firm believer in the importance of being well-rounded and taking on new
challenges, and I believe that this is shown through my academic and work experience. My
knowledge of new modeling programs and Adobe products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and
InDesign can help bring new ideas to your company, while maintaining the high quality designs and
documents you create.
I believe that my education, work experience, and enthusiasm make me a qualified and
valuable candidate for an internship position. I have enclosed my resume and can provide a list of
